passline · NMLS Prep

Terms of Use

Effective August 29, 2026 · Applies to the NMLS Prep app for iOS and to passline.app

The short version

1. The agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and passline ("we", "us"), the publisher of the NMLS Prep app for iOS (the "app") and of the website at passline.app (the "site"). By installing or using the app, or using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app or the site.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to buy access in the app.

2. What NMLS Prep is, and is not

NMLS Prep is a self-study tool for the SAFE Mortgage Loan Originator National Test with Uniform State Content. It offers practice questions, explanations with citations to the underlying rule, a study plan, timed mock exams and a readiness estimate.

3. Your license to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own exam preparation, under these Terms and the App Store's usage rules. The app is licensed, not sold. You may not use it for anyone else's preparation, to run a class, or to build a competing product.

4. Purchases, access and refunds

What is free

The 25-question check, your score and section breakdown, and the explanation and source for every question in the check are free, with no purchase and no account.

What access adds

"Access" unlocks the daily plan, practice of your review queue, new questions, timed mock exams and the readiness projection. Two products are sold, as in-app purchases through Apple:

ProductWhat you getTerm
90-Day AccessFull access90 days from purchase. Does not renew. If you buy it again while it is still active, the new 90 days begin when the current period ends. If you buy it after it has ended, the new 90 days begin that day.
Lifetime AccessFull access, including any updates to this app's content that we releaseNo expiry, for as long as NMLS Prep is available on the App Store and supported by us.

Both are one payment. Nothing auto-renews, and no card is charged again without a new purchase by you. The price is shown in the App Store and in the app before you buy, in your local currency. When 90-Day Access ends, practice locks again; nothing you built is deleted, and you can buy access again.

"Lifetime" means the life of the app, not of you. If we withdraw NMLS Prep from sale, we will say so on this site with reasonable notice; the app will keep working on your device for as long as iOS allows, but content updates and support stop.

Restoring access

Access is tied to the Apple Account used for the purchase. On a new device, or after reinstalling, use Restore purchases in the app. Neither product is shared through Family Sharing.

Refunds

Purchases are made from Apple, and refunds are decided by Apple under the App Store's terms. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves and cannot see who has requested one. If Apple refunds a purchase, the access it granted ends.

Prices

We may change prices for future purchases. A change never affects a purchase you have already made.

5. Questions, explanations and sources

Every question in the app is written by us, mapped to the published NMLS content outline, and cites the regulation or statute it tests (for example Regulation Z, RESPA, ECOA, HMDA, the SAFE Act). Each question is checked against its source by a person before it is released, and the date of the most recent review is shown in the app ("Verified for the 2026 SAFE test · Aug 2026"). "Verified" means that check was done; it does not mean the question is guaranteed to be free of error, or that it matches a question on the real test.

Regulations change. When one does, we correct the affected questions and ship them as a content update. If you find a question you believe is wrong, unclear or out of date, use "Report a question" in the app or email support@passline.app. A person reads every report.

Source excerpts shown in the app are quoted from public government publications (the Code of Federal Regulations, the United States Code, and agency guidance). They are reproduced for reference and remain public material. Links to ecfr.gov and other government sites take you to those sites.

6. What you agree not to do

7. The real exam

Test takers sign a confidentiality agreement with the exam administrator, and disclosing actual test questions is a violation of it. Do not send us actual exam content. When the app asks how your exam went, it asks about sections only, never about questions, and we ask you not to describe them. If you send us exam content anyway, we will delete it and will not use it. Nothing in the app is copied from the real test, and we do not sell answer keys.

8. Ownership

The app, the site, the question bank, the explanations, the app's design, the NMLS Prep and passline names and marks, and everything else we made are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. These Terms give you a license to use them, not ownership. Third-party marks, including NMLS, belong to their owners. Your own study data is yours.

9. Privacy

The app has no accounts and keeps your study data on your device. What the app and the site do with data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

10. Updates and availability

We may update the app and its content, add or remove features, and change how the app looks or works. The app can download verified content updates from our servers when it is online; it works offline with the content it has. We do not commit to a schedule of new questions or features. We may suspend or stop the app or the site, in whole or in part; see section 4 for what happens to Lifetime Access if we do.

11. No warranty

The app, the site and their content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted or secure, that any question or explanation is correct, or that using the app will lead to any exam result. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost income, lost data, exam fees, retake fees, licensing delays or lost employment, arising out of or related to the app, the site, their content or these Terms, however caused and under any theory of liability, even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability to you for all claims, in aggregate, will not exceed the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim arose, or fifty US dollars (US$50), whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Ending the agreement

You can end it at any time by deleting the app. We can suspend or end your license if you break these Terms, in which case you must stop using the app and delete it; sections 6, 8, 11, 12, 15 and 16 survive. Ending the agreement does not by itself entitle you to a refund, which remains a matter for Apple under section 4.

14. Apple

The app is distributed through Apple's App Store, and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where these Terms give you more than that agreement does, these Terms apply. In addition:

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which passline is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located there. You and we each consent to that jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law gives you rights that cannot be overridden by these Terms, those rights are unaffected.

Before filing a claim, write to us at support@passline.app; most problems are a wrong question or a purchase that did not restore, and we would rather fix them.
